Step 3 Moving from Google Chrome to Microsoft Edge

Opening Microsoft Edge for the First Time & Importing from Chrome:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge and Sign in when prompted.
  2. Click through the opening screens and setup Edge how you want it.
  3. When the Welcome to Edge tab opens, navigate to the Get Started section, and click Import.

Verifying Import:

Passwords:

  1. In Microsoft Edge Navigate to settings by clicking on the ellipses in the upper right-hand corner and click on settings.
  2. In the center column click on Passwords, all passwords from Chrome should be listed here.

Bookmarks:

  1. In Microsoft Edge, click on the star and three lines icon located at the top of your browser.
  2. Click on the ellipses  and select Open Favorites Page.

 

The next series of steps only need to be taken once the transition is complete after January 8th. Due to the requirements of Cloud9 and Dentrix Ascend, we’ll now discuss how to move your information back to Google Chrome.

Creating a New Google Account:

  1. In Google Chrome, go to the Google Account Sign In page by clicking the link.
  2. Click Create account.
  3. Enter your name, birthdate, and gender.
  4. Click Use your existing email at the bottom of the options.
  5. Enter your email address (e.g., [email protected])
  6. Click Next.
  7. Verify your email address with the code sent to your existing email.
  8. Click Verify in the email you receive.
  9. You’ll be asked to setup a password and then login into your account.
    1. If you’re not prompted to setup sync, follow the steps below to setup google sync.

Syncing with your New Google Account:

  1. In Google Chrome, click the silhouette   or User’s Initials button in the upper left-hand corner beside the three dots.
  2. Click the Turn on Sync button if no one is signed in or if someone is signed click on Add.
  3. Sign in with your email address and password to complete sync setup process.

Exporting Favorites/Bookmarks from Microsoft Edge:

  1. In Microsoft Edge, navigate to settings by clicking on the ellipses  in the upper right-hand corner and click on Favorites.
  2. From the Favorites menu click on another ellipses.
  3. Click on Open Favorites Manager.
  4. From the Favorites Manager, click on the last ellipses  in this step and select Export Favorites.

 

 

Importing Favorites/Bookmarks into Google Chrome:

  1. In Google Chrome, click on three dots  in the upper right-hand corner, hover over bookmarks, and then select Import Bookmarks and Settings.
  2. Click on the drop down box.
    1. If Microsoft Edge is an option, select it.
    2. If Microsoft Edge is NOT an option, select Bookmarks HTML File and select Choose File.

Exporting Passwords From Edge:

  1. In Microsoft Edge, navigate to settings by clicking on the ellipses in the upper right-hand corner and click on settings.
  2. In the center column click on Passwords, click on the ellipses  beside Add Passwords and select Export passwords.
  3. Save the document to your desktop.

Importing Passwords into Chrome:

  1. In Chrome Click on three dots  in the upper right-hand corner and go to Settings.
  2. Select AutoFill and Passwords.
  3. Click on Google Password Manager.
  4. Click on Settings within Password Manager.
  5. Select Import Passwords.
  6. Find and select file exported from Microsoft Edge.
  7. Delete file once passwords have been imported.
